The Prime Minister’s position on Traditional Elders of Hiiraan participation

The Prime Minister of Federal Government of Somalia H.E. Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke and a high level delegation he led spend two days visit to Beledweyne, the regional capital of Hiiraan. The purpose of the visit of the P.M. led delegation was to have in-depth and consultative meeting with Hiiraan Elders and other members of the region’s civil society.

Prime Minister Sharmarke stated the discussions centred on ways and means to engage process of the State Building members of the civil society of both regions. And that he has asked both the Elders and the civil society to fully take part in the process in order to achieve the desired goal.

The PM pointed out that the meeting he had with the Elders was productive and promising, and at the same time urged and called out for their return to Jowhar for the continuation of the State Building Process. He has affirmed that the Federal Government will fully support and make sure of the smooth running of the conference.

“I want to express my appreciation to the Traditional Elders of Hiiraan who showed maturity and dedication towards the State Building Process, on my part I guarantee to look into the concerns and issues you raise and in parallel request you express your concerns and resolve through dialogue “said Prime Minister Sharmarke.
