Reports from various sources indicate that a series of airstrikes took place last night and this morning, targeting locations where members of Al-Shabaab were reportedly present.
The airstrikes, which were said to have continued from approximately 10:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., reportedly occurred in areas of Lower Shabelle and Middle Juba regions.
1. Dhayow – Sablaale
One of the airstrikes reportedly targeted a location near Dhayow village in Sablaale district, which, according to reports, was a facility used to manufacture and store explosive materials.
Reports indicate that a large stockpile of explosives was destroyed at the site, while several individuals described as explosives experts were also reportedly killed.
The names reported include Aadan Murow, Macallin Asad, Macallin Salaad, who was reportedly Sudanese, and Abu Zakariye Al-Nucaymi, who was reportedly Yemeni.
Reports further indicate that the site is still on fire.
2. Bu’aale – Training Center
Another airstrike was reportedly carried out near Bu’aale, specifically at a location approximately 10 kilometers from the town toward the river.
The site was described as a training center for foreign recruits. Preliminary reports indicate that many foreign nationals were killed in the strike. Among those reportedly killed was their leader, Sheikh Abu Muhsin, who was said to be from Chad.
3. Jilib – Meeting of Senior Officials
Other reports indicate that an airstrike was carried out in Jilib, targeting a location where senior Al-Shabaab military officials were reportedly holding a meeting.
Sources familiar with the incident stated that the casualties at the site exceeded 30 officials.
4. Bu’aale – Medical Facility
Another airstrike was reportedly carried out inside Bu’aale, targeting a medical facility reportedly affiliated with Al-Shabaab.
According to preliminary reports, the facility contained a large amount of medical equipment and supplies, which were reportedly heavily damaged in the airstrike.
5. Near Xaramka – Drone Training Facility
The fifth reported airstrike took place near Xaramka in Lower Shabelle Region.
Reports indicate that the location was a training facility where members were being trained in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).
According to preliminary information, three drones reportedly originating from Yemen were destroyed at the site, while the death toll was estimated at 17 officials.
