Radio Risaala, is an independent radio and website based in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. Radio Risaala FM radio 102.2 MHZ and a website www.radiorisaala.com was launched on 24 June 2001 (with the name of IQK Radio) to serve for the all-Somali speaking community in east Africa.
During its 18 hours on air (5:00 AM-11:00 PM), Radio Risaala focuses to educate and entertaining and inform the people of Somalia with accurate and truth-based news.
Radio Risaala broadcasts news in its daily and weekly programs those including; entertainment, peace, culture, education, health, sports, economy and politics.
Radio Risaala is not affiliated with any particular group in the country whether it is political party, religious or racism group.

Following the capacity of our transmitter and the high-quality programs we deliver, Radio Risaala target audiences are increasingly going high day-to-day with the destination of the regions in the southern part of the country. Today our listeners – more than 3 million, live in Mogadishu (16 districts of the Benadir region with almost three million people), Middle Shabelle, Lower Shabelle, and some parts of Bay and Hiiran regions .

National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Somalia’s Ministry of Women and Human Rights Development, on the sidelines of the second and final day of the conference titled “national, regional and international mechanisms to combat impunity and ensure accountability under the law,” organised by NHRC, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Parliament.
The MoU was signed by NHRC Chairman Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, and Somalia’s Minister of Women and Human Rights Development, Deqa Yasin.
The MoU came based on the joint agreement to work together to promote future cooperation in the legal and human rights fields between both the sides. It is in recognition of the importance of cooperating in the field of human rights to strengthen bilateral relations between the two parties, in addition to the desire to continue with practical steps to enhance each other’s understanding of the other’s human rights systems, including ways to strengthen the work of human rights institutions, human rights legislation and human rights education.
The MoU aims to promote close relations between both sides in raising awareness on human rights and its protection, as well as ensuring the communication and information exchange between both sides on issues related to developing the human rights system, strategies and work plans of both sides, taking into account developing the future relations, spreading the concepts of each side for a protection system, promoting human rights and developing a bilateral framework between them to benefit from technical and institutional expertise.
Under the MoU priority is given to activities aimed at the protection of human rights related to the institutional development of human rights, governmental and non-governmental, the development and implementation of human rights plans and strategies, to support capacity-building and exchange experience in the field of human rights, as well as support human rights education programs and activities, cooperate in the provision of consultancy, research and studies, support and strengthen cooperation in combating human trafficking and other priority fields.
