10 people killed in central Somalia fighting

At least ten people are confirmed killed in a fighting between Al shabaab fighters and forces loyal to the interim Galmudug administration in central Somalia, reports said on Tuesday.

Galmudug state officials in the town told Radio Shabelle that their forces with the support of local clan militiamen repelled Al shabaab after militants attacked El-Abdi area.

Pro-Al shabaab media outlets reported that ten soldiers belonging to Galmudug state were killed by the armed militants. civilians are reportedly among the victims caught in the fighting.

Witnesses reported chaotic scenes in the town as the two warring sides exchanged shelling and gunfire.

The situation of El Abdi vicinity which is located some 20 kilometers away from Al shabaab controlled Amara village is tense and the sides could restart again the battle.
