At least one person was killed and six others were wounded in a grenade attack on a Somali army checkpoint in the southern coastal city of Marka on Monday night.
A Witness, speaking on condition of anonymity, said suspected Al-Shabaab members threw a hand grenade at the military outpost in the Via-Wajeer neighborhood.
As a result, security forces sealed off the scene of the explosion and launched an investigation into the incident. So far, no group or individual has claimed the grenade attack in Marka, and the local authority did not comment on the incident.
Marka, is a key seaside city in southern Somalia which lies 109 Km south of Mogadishu. The city was retaken by SNA and AMISOM in 2012 after seven years of Al-Shabaab rule.
