(Prensa Latina) A specialized state institution in Somalia has reportedly trained and delivered free domains to groups of local students to promote information technology skills among young people in the country.

The decision was taken by the so-called Top Level Domain of Country Code, which launched a new version of its products during the First Exhibition on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Mogadishu, Africanews reported.

The event offered thousands of people an unprecedented networking opportunity for young people, who held interactive discussions with industry leaders.

Eng Abdi Ashur, minister of mail, telecommunications and technology, said that this exhibition demonstrated the growing diversity and vitality of ICT in the country.

The event gave an additional boost to the sector and showed its progress, both in the public and private, Abdi Ashur stressed.
