AU, And IGAD discuss security for Somalia

The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Madeira on Tuesday, February 18, met with the Executive Secretary of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu and IGAD’s Special Envoy for the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Somalia, Dr.

Mohamed Ali Guyo, where they discussed progress made so far to restore peace and security in Somalia.

Ambassador Madeira commended IGAD’s commitment towards maintaining regional peace and underscored the importance of collaborating on the African Union objective of peace and security across Africa.

Ambassador Guyo and Dr. Workneh are in Somalia to attend national consultations on the promotion of regional peace process on the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as other regional matters.
