Somalia Asks Ireland to Support its Bid for UNSC Seat in 2024

Somalia has asked Ireland to support its bid for a seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in next year’s elections.

Elections for a UNSC seat are due in June 2024.

Abshir Omar Jama Huruse made this request to Simon Coveney on Saturday, November 19.

Huruse is Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs. Coveney is the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense.

Huruse, Coveney, and counterparts from other countries met in Dublin.
