IN A STATEMENT released on 25 February, Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen militants claimed responsibility for the killing of an intelligence officer – identified as Mohamed Omar – near Bandhabow mosque in Hamar-jajab district in Banaadir region in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on an earlier unspecified date, Shabelle Media Network reported. The claim could not be independently verified.
