Kenya has strengthened the security on the border with Somalia, to prevent possible attacks against the communications infrastructure conducted by the anti-government organization Al Shabab, said the North Eastern regional coordinator, Mohamud Saleh.
According to the digital site the-star.co.ke, Saleh said that the bombings carried out recently by Al Shabab against communication facilities like Safaricom in LaFey and Fino in Mandera, were seeking to sabotage communications and the security operations in the area.
The official also said that other attacks were reported in the last 14 months.
In this regard, he said that the Somali anti-government organization that attacks Kenya was also planning to bomb the water pipes in these places, but the government authorities managed to secure them.
According to the-star.co.ke, a security team is closely working with the Lower Juba management to ensure that the Somali rebels are defeated.
