The Metropolitan Police reported today that the man that stabbed several people yesterday in this capital was a Norwegian young man of Somali origin without signs of radicalization.
The Deputy Superintendent Mark Rowley ruled out that there was a terrorist relation in the attack with a knife at the central Russell square, in which a 60-year-old US lady died and five other people were wounded.
Although the investigation has not concluded, the authorities aim at the attacker’s mental health, as their first hypothesis.
The victims, which were chosen at random, are of British, Australian, US and Israeli nationalities. Two of them are in hospital, but all of them are out of danger, Rowley announced. London’as Mayor Sadiq Khan asked the citizens to keep calm and remain on the alert, while they investigate the incident.
The attack occurred after Khan and Chief of Police Bernard Hoghan Howe announced the deployment of 600 other armed agents on the streets of this city to prevent possible terrorist attacks.
